Stone Mats: ( Supplied by Stoneweavers Hokitiki South Island NZ ) Individually crafted by a small team of stoneweavers who hand harvest this wonderful resource from the rugged West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. The stones move down the many rivers flowing from the Southern Alpes to the Tasman Sea. They are carried the length of the West Coast by the Northerly drift, tumbling and polishing as they travel, some as far as 300kms. Mother Nature, using waves, wind, and tide, uncovers small pockets of these stones on our beach. They are fortunate to have consent to harvest stone from one of the beaches where this occurs. Stonemats look and feel great on tables and floors. Suitable for both indoors ( they are very popular in Bathrooms & Laundries ) and the garden ( around Pools or at the front or back door ). Each stone is carefully sorted so they are the same height. Smooth enough to walk on or stand a glass on. All are backed onto commercial marine grade carpet, so leaving them outside in the elements is not a problem. |
